First Presbyterian has a long standing history of supporting local mission organizations. We have included below the local mission organizations we are currently working with. We hope you will feel confident in serving along side them on behalf of First Presbyterian Church. Each ministry has a link to their websites and contact information for you to get involved.

Associates For Christian Counseling
Provides Christian counseling for personal and family issues, i.e. depression, grief, divorce, etc. Contact Joe Verga at 896-0065

Crisis Control Ministry
Responds with financial assistance to residents of Forsyth County who are in serious financial crisis in theareas of food, clothing, rent, fuel, medications, utilities, etc. Contact: volunteer@crisiscontrol.org
El Buen Pastor Latino Community Services
Ministers to and with Hispanic families in the Old Town area. Mary Bolton, a member of FPC,is the Director, working inpartnership with Rosa Miranda, Pastor of El Buen Pastor Church. Volunteers are needed to tutor children, help immigrant families adapt to life in our city, plan special events, help with administrative and creative projects, lead crafts with the women, etc. Map to El Buen Pastor

El Buen Pastor After School Tutoring
4:00-5:00, Monday - Thursday. Tutors and homework helpers are needed to work with Hispanic students. Spanish not required! To volunteer or find out more contact Mary Bolton.
Forsyth Jail and Prison Ministry
This is an outreach to prisoners in an atmosphere necessary for reconciliation, a fresh beginning, and an end to the cycle of crime. It offers Bible studies, musical services, and counseling for inmates, families, and staff.
Forsyth Jail & Prison Ministries
Would you like to tutor an adult in reading, writing, and math skills? Forsyth Jail & Prison Ministries needs volunteers to work with male inmates at the Forsyth Correctional Center. Habitat for Humanity of Forsyth County
Building affordable housing as a witness to Christ. Contact Sherri Flynn, volunteer coordinator by email.
Intervarsity Christian Fellowship
Mission to college students in NC and SC. Establishes and advances witnessing communities of students and faculty. Joe Moore, a member of First Presbyterian, is Regional Director.
Meals-On-Wheels
Delivers a hot noonday meal to home bound older adults on weekdays. Contact volunteer coordinator Sally McLeod at smcleod@seniorservicesinc.org.
Operation Christmas Child
A unique project of Christian relief and evangelism organization Samaritan's Purse, Christmas Child delivers shoe boxes filled with gifts to hurting children around the world while also telling them about God's greatest gift - His Son, Jesus Christ.
Prodigals Community
Offers spiritual growth, vocational training, and education as well as Christian substance abuse recovery.
Salem Pregnancy Care Center
Seeks to serve Jesus Christ by promoting sexual purity, and through life-affirming ministry to those touched by a crisis pregnancy as they make decisions regarding pregnancy, parenting, adoption, and relationship issues. SPCC exists for the glory of God, as an extension of Christ’s love in word and deed, by providing emo-tional support, practical assistance, and spiritual encouragement. Contact them at 760-3680.
Samaritan Ministries
An interdenominational homeless Christian ministry started by First Presbyterian Church. Provides hope and healing by sharing food, shelter, and companionship with the hungry and homeless through Christian love and service. Provides nightly shelter for homeless men and Soup Kitchen serving lunch and supper each day. First Presbyterian Church provides volunteers during the month of December for overnight stay and preparation of two meals. Contact Ron Wixson for more information.
Young Life of Forsyth County
Middle and high school youth outreach program. A relational ministry sharing the love of Jesus as well as the caring and love of trusting relationships. Lynn Barclay, a member of First Presbyterian, is Regional Director. Contact her by email.
