Officer Nominations
The officer nominating committee solicits recommendations from members of the congregation for the office of elder, deacon and members of next year's nominating committee. Persons holding office should be a member for at least a year, a person who endorses our church vision and direction, demonstrates involvement and is a financial supporter of record. Nomination forms are available at the info centers and the front desk receptionist. An online form is available here. Return forms to the church marked to the attention of the nominating committee by the deadline date of June 23, 2008.

Help at First Presbyterian
If you enjoy interacting with visitors, volunteer as an info center host on Sunday mornings. We are looking for a couple people to offer one Sunday a month working before and after the 9:30 sevice. If you are interested in trying this out, contact Linda at 723-1621.

Available during the weekday?  We need a couple people willing to cover lunch for our receptionist, Ronda, for an hour during the day. Contact Linda for details, 723-1621.

Forsyth Jail & Prison Ministries
Would you like to tutor an adult in reading, writing, and math skills?  Forsyth Jail & Prison Ministries needs volunteers to work with male inmates at the Forsyth Correctional Center.  Many of these men are working towards a General Equivalency Diploma (GED).  Contact Jone Reid at 759-0063, x37, or jone@forsythjpm.org.

El Buen Pastor After School Tutoring

El Buen Pastor Latino Community Services
Ministers to and with Hispanic families in the Old Town area.  Mary Bolton, a member of FPC, is the Director, working in partnership with Rosa Miranda, Pastor of El Buen Pastor Church. Volunteers are needed to tutor children, help immigrant families adapt to life in our city, plan special events, help with administrative and creative projects, lead crafts with the women, etc.

A unique project of Christian relief and evangelism organization Samaritan's Purse, Christmas Child delivers shoeboxes filled with gifts to hurting children around the world while also telling them about God's greatest gift - His Son, Jesus Christ.Top of Page

Samaritan Ministries [Link to page]
An interdenominational homeless Christian ministry started by First Presbyterian Church. Provides hope and healing by sharing food, shelter, and companionship with the hungry and homeless through Christian love and service. Provides nightly shelter for homeless men and Soup Kitchen serving lunch and supper each day. First Presbyterian Church provides volunteers during the month of December for overnight stay and preparation of two meals.Top of Page
